The prize dissertation is a study of the development of the Indo-European laryngeals into Germanic, thus answering a ”prisopgavespørgsmål” of 2006, asked by the Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics, at the University of Copenhagen with the problem ”A contribution to the clarification of the phonological history of Common Germanic, based on the method of comparative linguistics, is requested”.
