H.C. Andersen award bestowed on Knud Wentzel

Assoc. prof. emeritus, DPhil Knud Wentzel has received the Danish Author's Society's H.C. Andersen award. The award amounts to 50.000 kr. and was bestowed with special reference to Knud Wentzel's research in folktales.

The award was given at the literary Karen Blixen-prize celebration in the masonic lodge premises in Copenhagen on 29 May 2015. Professor Johnny Kondrup gave a motivating speech singling out as a primary motive his pioneering studies of the folktales' universe resulting in three books in Danish, an edition of Denmark's best folktales and the book in German Der goldene Apfel (The Golden Apple).
