Frank Trujillo, The Morgan Library and Museum: The consolidation of pigments in the Morgan Library’s Winchester Bible leaf
The Morgan Library & Museum’s double sided single leaf of the 12th century Winchester Bible, MS M.619, was recently treated in preparation for loan. The consolidation of the pigments presented a surprisingly complex set of treatment decisions. The content of the poster will be an exploration of why the pigments were difficult to consolidate with an emphasis on the possible connection to techniques and materials used in 12th century wall painting in Northern England.
